Why aren’t we living the life we imagined?
Heyy divas,
Maybe it’s because I’ve been watching Girlfriends lately and falling down a Pinterest rabbit hole of early 2000s Beyoncé, Cassie, Lauren London, and Kim K, but I’ve been feeling extremely nostalgic for that era of glamour.
You know, I thought once I got older, my friends and I would be taking limousines to dinner and girls’ nights out lol.
Instead, we have resorted to Ubers and black trucks.
The limos.
The dressing up.
The girls’ nights.
The whole experience.
Everything just felt so classy, chic, and timeless.
WE WERE ROBBED!
But you know what? It’s my life and since turning 31, I’ve decided I’m going to do everything I want to do.
No waiting for the “right” occasion.
No wondering if something is too extra.
No saving the good stuff for another day.
If I want the limo, I’m getting the limo.
If I want to overdress, I’m overdressing.
If I want the fancy dinner, I’m making the reservation.
Growing up isn’t suppose to be about becoming less fun or less glamorous, it’s about realizing we get to create the life we always imagined for ourselves.
Maybe that’s what I’ve been craving lately, not necessarily the exact clothes or trends but the feeling of getting dressed up just because, wearing heels, putting on the makeup and going somewhere with your girls and actually making a night out of it.
So next girls’ night out, I’m looking into getting a limo!
Because why not? Maybe it’s time to bring it back.
Or at least bring it back for me and my girls.
Until next time,
Jill 💋
